Rules of thumb:
- In the living room above the sofa: 100 cm or wider.
- At the dining table: 100cm or wider.
- In the hallway: Hang several narrower pictures in a row. The alternative is a panoramic image.
- In the bedroom above the bed: 120 cm or wider. Alternative: Group several small pictures on the wall as a collage.
- Empty wall without furniture: For an empty wall without proportion anchors, we recommend an image height of at least 80 cm.
With a vertical distance of approx. 30 cm from the sofa, the picture comes into its own.
Panoramic pictures can also be hung above the sofa. The image width should then be at least two thirds of the width of the sofa. Due to the low height of a panoramic picture, the wall design does not appear overloaded.
Several pictures above the sofa
It's not easy for you to decide on THAT one picture above the sofa? No problem! Arrange several small pictures on the wall as a collage. There are no limits to your creativity. Tip: Position the individual pictures on the floor in advance. Take a photo of the arrangement you want so you can recreate it on the wall later.
Dining table
The dining area is no less important place for a mural. Similar rules apply here as for choosing the size of the picture above the sofa. If the dining table is used daily, we recommend a picture width of around 100 cm. But larger images are also possible. The larger the picture, the tidier or less cluttered the table should be.
In the hallway
If you hang several smaller pictures in a row at equal distances, you get a nice line of sight. The impression is orderly and harmonious. Hanging in rows is particularly successful when the motifs are thematically linked or complement each other. Tip: Panoramic pictures are a popular alternative for wall decoration in hallways.
In the bedroom above the bed
Choosing the right motif for the bedroom is certainly an exciting topic that we don't want to delve into any further here. Regarding size, we recommend a minimum width of 120cm over a double bed. The loose arrangement of several smaller pictures can also be a very decorative solution, although it is a little more complex. If you want to be particularly creative, place the group of pictures to the left or right of the middle of the bed.
